"in black and white orcolor, in English orin Germán, Hermán isacartoon character who prouides a daily dosage of leuity and subtlety for addicted readers around the world."
—OTTAWA CITIZEN
"Hermán humor is outrageously ridiculous and itsstrength liesnotonly in thesharp joke lines but the superb draftsmanship of Jim Unger, the shape and positioning of the bodies in relation to one another and — foremost — Unger's ability to capture facial expressions appropriate to a mood or situation."
—M1LWAUKEE JOURNAL
"A funny man w'th sardonic humor."
—SEATTLE TIMES
•'Hermán is a klutz. That's probably the nicest thing you can say about him.
"He's got no couth. His idea of class is Budweiser in a glass. He wearspants, socks and underwear tops. He is unshauen, slovenly, rumpled and unkempt.
"Hermán is lower middle class, but at the same time he can be a doctor or bank president. He is a nobody. He is everybody. He's usually fat (though on occasion he is thin). He is always ugly. He can be a she, but only when in curlers or housedress. He can be your neighbor. A relatiue. Hermán is uniuersal. But aboue all, Hermán is outrageous. And there lies his fame."
