John Heskett, born in 1937, graduated from the London School of Economics and in 1976 was awarded the Goldsmiths' Travelling Fellowship to study twentieth-century Germán design. He is currently Principal Lecturerin Design History at Sheffield City Polytechnic and has lectured widely on his subject in Britam and Germany.
