In this new collection, John Robert Colombo, Canada's Master Gatherer, has created a delightful concoction of 600 famous, and infamous, quotes by Canadians on things Canadian and not so Canadian. Quotes by Sir Wilfrid Laurier ("The twentieth century belongs to Canada"), Hugh MacLennan ("Two solitudes"), Marshall McLuhan ("The medium is the message"), Pierre Trudeau ("There's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation"), and hundreds of others come alive as Colombo relates the setting and circumstances that led to each. Arranged chronologically, these quotes portray the unfolding of a country and a people.
John Robert Colombo is the author of several books of quotations, including Colombo's Canadian Quotations, Colombo's Concise Canadian Quotations, and The Dictionary of Canadian Quotations. He makes his home in Toronto.
