Few preserved railways can compete with the Keighley & Worth Valley when it comes to sheer variety of motive power. It is now almost twenty years since the first steam engines arrived at Haworth following closure of the Worth Valley branch by B.R. Since then over fifty locomotives have featured on the Railway and a creditably high number of these have been steamed. This book traces the extremely varied careers of these locomotives and reflects the tremendous achievements of the Preservation Society over the past twenty years. Drawing on the work of many of the country's leading steam photographers, John Sagar has produced a comprehensive and informative survey of a remarkable locomotive fleet.
An Oxford graduate and lecturer in French, John Sagar is a railway enthusiast and photographer of many years' standing. In unguarded moments he admits that his greatest achievement to date is to take the oral examination for his doctorate and help raise steam on City of Wells at Carlisle on... Tovább
