CHAPTERS ON THE
CLASSICAL CALCULUS
OF PROBABILITY
This volume is to present the classical
problems and the historical evolution of
the Calculus of Probability for the non-
beginner.
Chapter I is a historical summary and
a philosophical background of the evolu-
tion of the concept of probability. Chap-
ter II describes the tools from combina-
torial analysis, calculus of finite differ-
ences and constructive function theory.
The following seven chapters provide the
author's own discoveries which are well
ahead of his age and may ensure the
survival of his name. Such interesting
though less known problems like the
problem of roulette, lottery and poker
are also treated at length. Chapter X as
well as several other sections in various
chapters deal entirely with the most im-
portant applications. This compilation
includes practically all problems and tests
of mathematical statistics that have been
worked out by the 1920s.
