This is the first basic textbook that establishes the close relationship of physics, psychophysics, and neuropsychology to music.
The main revisions in the second edition reflect recent important developments in the understanding of complex tone pitch perception. Related developments in consonance and dissonance have also been incorporated. Other additions include a section describing the principal information channels in auditory pathways, and a section on the specialization of cerebral hemispheres in regard to speech and music perception.
