Keith Laidler's THE HEAD OF GOD is a stunning combination of historical detective work and considered analysis of the physical evidence
In 1307 the Poor Knights- of the Temple of Solomon were systematically put to death. Only a few of their number survived to escape along with their records and their artefacts. Among these treasures was a series of 'heads' whose existence is recorded in the annals of the Inquisition, the most important of which is named the Baphomet. Laidler's ^iVw.3^ations into the Templar heads took him back to the Egyptian Pharaohs, the Israel of Samson, David, Solomon and Jesus himself, forward again to the medieval Cathars and, ultimately, to thé arrival of the Baphomet at its final resting place in a small Templar chapel to the south of Edinburgh.
