Föllmi traveled through Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, the Galapagos archipelago, and more to witness the ageless traditions and colorful celebrations of this land that defies categorization. A native of Uruguay living in Paris, Mondragon brings to bear both his Latin American heritage and his novelist's imagination as he describes the area's glorious pre-Hispanic past, the devastating results of the Spanish invasion, years of political instability, and most of all the resilient nature of the native peoples. Detailed captions by Virginie de Borchgrave further illuminate the profound wonders of this remarkable place.
