'Opulent colour photographs enough to make your coffee go cold' - The Scotsman Magazine
'This is one of the best of this seasons crop of books on interiors' - World of Interiors
Scotland is justly famed as a land of colour and romance, but its image - in the eyes of the outsider - is often one of cliches. Tartans, mountains, lochs, gloomy castles and humble crofts make up the Scotland of the tourist brochures. Yet while these have their place in the total fabric, Scotland from the inside offers a tapestry of infinite variety, unexpected and continually dazzling.

The result is a fascinating insight into Scottish treasures and tastes, photographed by Fritz von der Schulenburg with all his well-known flair and discrimination.... Tovább

This splendid book looks behind the façades of great houses, small castles and inner-city dwellings. With the exception of Mackintosh's masterpiece at Helensburgh, now owned by the National Trust for Scotland, all the properties included are private homes. The result is a fascinating insight into Scottish treasures and tastes, photographed by Fritz von der Schulenburg with all his well-known flair and discrimination. The accumulated styles range from the traditional to the modern, encompassing all those features that are unique to the Scottish way of life.
Lesley Astaire, the well-known interior decorator, lives in New York and London and contributes to interior decoration magazines on both sides of the Adantic. She contributed to the enormously successful English Style. and is the author of Living in London (published by Thames and Hudson). Roddy Martine is a former editor of Scottish Field, and Fritz von der Schulenburg is known for his photographic work for The World of Interiors magazine.
