Drawing on material from every continent and from every era of history, he offers a series of fascinating comparative tables showing the differences and similarities between the various mythical traditions and their answers to these questions. In a final review of what he calls 'the great mythic systems of the world' he also provides an invaluable summary of the core beliefs of the Greeks, Egyptians, Aztecs and Hindus, among many others.
