He writes brilliantly about the last era of the Habsburg reign, the Russian civil war, the Zionist movement, the "new" Germany, the future of the United Nations, American as compared to European education, the historian's role, and the Negro revolution ("The survival of our civilization depends upon winning the struggle for equality; in the long run, it is even more important than the struggle against communism").
His conclusions are often unorthodox. He calls for a re-evaluation of history and a reappraisal of national goals.
