'Magnesium in clinical practice' draws upon almost 1500 fully referenced published sources, including the most up-to-date work. The first part of the book describes the biochemical, cellular and physiological characteristics of magnesium, as well as its absorption, storage, excretion and metabolic regulation, and ends with an account of research methods. Neuromuscular and other forms of primary magnesium deficits are discussed in the second part of the book and a distinction is made between these forms which are well documented and frequently encountered and those for which the evidence is more theoretical and which are rarely seen. The account, in the next section, of secondary magnesium deficits deals with simple dietary deficiency as weil as depletions, for example, those forms associated with metabolic and renal disorders. There is also an index of authors, and a copious subject index, which will also aid scholarship in this field. In summary, this is an excellent and useful book.
