This workbook is intended for children who are beginning to learn English as a second or foreign language. Its aim is to encourage pupils to learn the language as a means of communicating with the teacher and with each other. The stimulus is provided by games, and a variety of activities and picture puzzles, which, in motivating the pupil to find solutions, encourage him to practise the language used for making guesses, forming judgements, expressing agreement or disagreement, asking and answering questions, etc. Vocabulary and structures are systematically revised throughout the book. Each page has an oral and a written section. The Let's Talk section provides model conversations for talking about the games and puzzles, and the Let's Write section exercises to test what has been learnt orally.
