Ali sections of Beyond Basics contain an introduction by the editor and two papers. Each paper is followed by discussion questions, suggested activities for the pre- or in-service teacher, annotated suggestions for further reading, and a bibliography.
Beyond Basics strikes a happy médium between the methods text for beginning teachers-in-training and the reference volume aimed at researchers in second language acquisition. The text may be used in graduate teacher-training programs in TESOL or Applied Linguistics, or may serve as a classroom reference for in-service teachers who want to keep up with research that relates specifically to language teaching and language learning.
