Dr. Powers is known as a "founding father of financial futures." He was one of the originators of the International Monetary Market in Chicago, where he served as a senior vice president and developed the currency and T-bill futures contracts. He served as chief economist for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in Washington, D.C., and then as executive vice president and director of commodities for a major Wall Street securities firm.
He is president of Powers Research Inc., a leading financial services firm, specializing in the development and management of hedges for large corporations, banks, S&Ls and government agencies. Powers is co-author of Inside the Financial Futures Markets and editor of the new Journal of Futures Markets.
