The Author
Michael Armstrong practises as an independent consultant. A graduate of the London School of Economics, a Fellow of the Institute of Personnel Management, and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, he spent his early career in the aerospace and food industries, specializing in industrial relations as well as training and management development. He then became head of the personnel consultancy division in Coopers & Lybrand and followed this with twelve years as a general manager and executive director in a major publishing company. His publications for Kogan Page include How to be an Even Better Manager, A Handbook of Human Resource Management, A Handbook of Management Techniques and, with Helen Murlis, Reward Management.
