"T m/m/s 30 seconds ." My heart was really pounding now and my palms were sweating, like the big game was about to start.
"T minus 20 seconds . T minus ten seconds.f/ We were really going to go!
Thump! The spacecraft shook as the huge thirty-inch valves opened to feed fuel into each of the fi ve main engines.
"T minus 8 seconds . . . IGNITION! We have ignition!" radioed the launch director.
We heard a muffled roar from the huge engines below as they gulped down fuel at about 4,500 gallons per second. As the engines built up thrust for lift-off, I felt a tremendous vibration, and the spacecraft began to shake!

MOONWLKER
Charlie and Dotty Duke
Moonwalker is the story of how a small town South Carolina boy set goals for himself and strived to succeed - first in prep schöol and at the Naval Acad-emy, then as a fighter and test pilot, and finally as an astronaut and busi-nessman.
Moonwalker captures in print the thrill and excitement of flying to the moon, from the selection process to the training to the actual flight In authentic dialóg from NASA tapes and with his eyewitness account of how it all came about, Duke puts it to-gether in this thoroughly fascinating story of his adventures in space.
If you've ever wondered how as-tronauts take care of their personal needs in zero gravity, you'll find somé unexpected answers to such questions as how do astronauts in space eat? drink? get dressed? brush their teeth? go to the bathroom? sleep? But there's more to the Duke story than space travel.
The early excitement and glamour of Dotty's marriage to an astronaut too soon wore thin because of neglect and indifference - and her contempla-tion of suicide nearly ended their marriage. But working through her de-spair, Dotty found hope in Jesus Christ.

She committed her life to Him and made a new commitment to her relationship with Charlie. Charlie eventually heard the truth of the gospel and turnéd his life over to the Lord. Their personal discovery of Christ worked the needed miracle in their lives, and their incredible conversion opened the doors to adventures even more satisfying than walk-ing on the moon.
Brigadier General Charlie Duke, USAF re-tired, served as lunar modulé pilot of Apollo 16, the first scientific expedition to inspect, survey, and sample materials and surface features in the Descartes region of the rugged lunar highlands.
Dotty Duke attended Hollins College in Virginia before graduating from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She and her husband have appeared on TV and radio, have been featured in national print média, and share a worldwide speaking ministry.
