Makaha and the huge bays of Kane'ohe and Kailua. On the leeward coast are the shipping basins of Honolulu Harbor, Ke'ehi Lagoon, and the three vast lobes that form Pearl Harbor. O'ahu's two long mountain ranges, Ko'olau and Wai'anae, offer lookouts, hiking trails and deep green backdrops. From Waiklkl to Honolulu, residents and visitors find nightlife of unparalleled variety. Most of the state's residents live here, in old residential communities, the new towns, old sugar villages, military bases and sprawling rural areas surrounded by agricultural fields.
