OREGON
The Shoshone warriors had a name for the evergreen land through which the River of the West, "The Mighty Columbia", flowed: Oyer-un-gun, or the place of plenty. To Spanish adventurers it was Agua Aura, meaning gently flowing water Canadian fur traders preferred the Algonquin Wau-re-gan, or beautiful water From these came the name Oregon.
Discovered first
by sea, early explorers sailed past Oregon's headlands, bars, and forest covered shore and dared not land. The rugged 425 miles of coastline, from Astoria on the Colun±)ia River to Brookings near the California border, is accessible from the Coast Highway which enables travelers to enjoy the beauty and austerity of majestic rock formations, steep cliffs and picturesque beaches.

Steve Terrill, a self taught photographer who has been photographing professionally since 1980, has become recognized as one of the top nature and scenic photographers of the Northwest. He has been widely published in a number of national and regional pi±ilications.
