In this book the author sums up the different theories of index computation and endeavours to establish an integrated theory. He deals in detail with index tests and other requirements, discusses the family tree of index formulae, examines the different features of weighted formulae, systematizes the time and regional index series and the formulae for international comparisons. The book also contains index series comparing more than two periods or countries and the method based on optimum graph. The author provides also some further details concerning the method EKS, in which denomination K refers to his name. There are examples, tables and figures based on concrete data in order to facilitate our understanding of the subject.
