The work of Renoir radiates an enthusiasm for life. One of the founders of Impressionism, his early paintings quiver with vibrating light and are marked by a sure lucidity of color. In 1881, Renoir withdrew from the Impressionist circle and, for a brief time, painted in rigorous classical modes.
