For fifty years the quantum theory of the chemical bond has mainly dealt with strong intersystem interactions connected with the formation of molecu-les. Considerably less attention has been devoted to weak intersystem interactions leading to very different types of mo-lecular complexes.
A great increase in experimentál and theoretical activity has been observed in the area of weak interactions during the last few years. This rapid development has made orientation in the field more and more difficult, and has necessitated the broad treatment of the subject in the form of this mono-graph.
Weak intersystem interactions, es-pecially of the intermolecular type, play a large rőle in somé parts of molecular physics, chemistry and biology involving topics such as liquid state theory, molecular crystals, partition and solvation phenomena, interactions with receptors, effects of drugs and conformation...
