This book is being published on the occasion of the five year anniversary of the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEFS). CHEPS is an interdisciplinary research center located at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
Like in many other countries, the higher education system in the Netherlands to a considerable extent is influenced by the various governmental policies with respect to this system. In this book a number of analyses are presented of Dutch government's higher education policies in the 1980s. These Dutch higher education policies may be judged to be quite interesting for policy-makers and policy-analists in other countries, especially because of the innovative character of several of these policies. The chapters in this book, which are all written by CHEFS staff-members, contain analyses of these policies from various theoretical perspectives.
