Walter Petrigo was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and came to Calgary in 1951. He is a master photographer whose achievements have won acclaim and distinction throughout the world. His work has been represented in exhibitions in Canada and many foreign countries, including the U.S.A., India, China, Czechoslovakia, Holland, Italy, Great Britian, Australia, and South Africa; and has received many major awards and citations. He is also an "Honourary Texan" by the proclamation of the Governor of Texas.
Petrigo's photographs have been featured in numerous international publications, including Time, Life, National Geographic, and The Reader's Digest, to mention only a few. Many distinguished dignitaries have been portrayed by Mr. Petrigo, including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Robert Kennedy, Lester E Pearson, John Diefenbaker, Pierre Trudeau, and numerous others.

Petrigo's professional credentials are exceptionally impressive To list only a few, he holds the Master of Photography - Craftsman degree by the Professional Photographers of America. He is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, a distinction awarded in recognition of the highest standard of achievement in the art and science of photography; and is a Master of Photographic Arts of the Professional Photographers of Canada.
