William Morris, poet and prose wríter, artist and craftsman, became one of the pioneers of socialism in Britain. Yet only in a small circle is it yet understood that his socialism was in all essential features that of Marx. He was not only among the first Englishmen to welcome and master the ideas of Marx, but one of the very few to extend and develop these ideas in a creative way.
