Poztupimi is first mentioned in documents in 993 - in 1993 Potsdam was 1000 years old. Jean Paul described the residence of the Prussian kings to the southwest of Berlin as the most beautiful suburb in the world. Frederick the Great modelled its character, and "had nothing more been added to it since his death" (Heinrich Heine), it might still be the city that Frederick had sought to create: a city "sans souci", without cares - and without the fear and calamity brought by Prussia, two world wars and Communist rule. Jean Paul nannte die Residenzstadt der preuBischen Könige im Südwesten Berlins die schönste Vorstadt der Welt. Friedrich der GroBe pragte ihren Charakter und »wáre seit seinem Tode nichts mehr daran gebauf worden« (Heinrich Heine), so könnte sie vielleicht der Ort sein, den sich der GroBe Fritz erhoffte: eine Stadt »sans souci«, ohne Sorge und - ohne Furcht und Elend PreuBens, der Weltkriege und der SED-Ára. Hubertus Knabe-Buche portrátiert die widersprüchliche Stadt, die in den kontrastreichen Fotografien Kai Ulrich Müllers anschaulich wird. Vissza
