This is a concise, yet comprehensive and up-to-date study of the theory of power transmission and the characteristics of the devices employed; it is illustrated at all stages by clearly worked examples, and distinguished by particularly well-drawn diagrams.
Mr. Chard considers the power system as a whole for economics, operation, loading, stability and fault analysis. It is believed that every useful and practical technique for understanding and evaluating transmission and its problems is included. Mathematical methods are used where they simplify explanation or help understanding; and the treatment should prove specially useful to engineers serving small or remote authorities, who have to perform their own calculations.
References for further study are provided and there is an appreciative Foreword by T. L. Egginton, Chief Engineer of the Central Electricity Generating Board.
