Practical Instrumentation Transducers FRANK J. OLIVÉR An authoritative and comprehensive guide to transducer selection and application, this volume presents control system and instrumentation engineers with a complete survey of physical-to-electrical transducers and their associated hard-wire telemetry networks used in measurement and control systems. It describes and illustrates diagrammatically the basic operating principles and limits of accuracy of virtually every known electrical transducer designed for use over the entire rangé of industrial and aerospace applications. Reflecting the trend toward computer control of industrial processes, the book includes information pertinent to these instrument applications. Great care has been taken to emphasize subjects not covered adequately elsewhere or not included in other readily available references. Topics such as interference problems in hard-wire telemetry systems and transducers as feedback devices in servo systems are discussed... Tovább

Topics such as interference problems in hard-wire telemetry systems and transducers as feedback devices in servo systems are discussed in considerable detail. On the other hand, information easily located elsewhere, radio telemetry systems and the like, is deliberately minimized or deleted. The book begins by summarizing basic electrical and mechanical effects, the operating principle of transducer design. It goes on to show how these basic principles are applied in the measurement of physical variables and how they are transduced into useful electrical values for recording and control. Detailed chapters treat the specifics of choosing instruments for such measurements as strain, force, and load . . . angular position . . . rotary speed . . . pressure . . . temperature . . . infrared detection .. . flow . . . and so on. The chapters devoted to vibration and shock, and unidirectional acceleration Vissza
