Princeton Reflections
Contemplations in Color
THIS splendid collection of photographs of Princeton University, selected by the noted designer Bruce Campbell and magnificently reproduced in full color, evokes the style and atmosphere that have made and continue to make an indelible impression on those who visit the campus of Old Nassau. The book, which includes the work of more than a dozen photographers, lends new beauty to traditional campus scenes, while also finding aesthetic excitement in unexpected places. Sure to please all those who know and love the University, it reveals Princeton's unique character—a character that goes far beyond the attributes of surface beauty.

F. Scott Fitzgerald, Princeton Class of 1917, described the "silent stretches of green, the quiet halls with an occasional late-burning scholastic light" that inspired a "deep and reverent devotion to the gray walls and Gothic peaks" of his Alma Mater. Princeton has changed greatly since Fitzgerald's day, as it has from its beginnings, when the now venerable Nassau Hall housed the entire college (and when Princetonians originated the use of the word campus—Latin for "field"—to mean the grounds of a college). Certain aspects of the University remain timeless, however, and its spirit continues to elicit devotion. Seeking to capture this spirit in many guises and the beauty of the campus in all seasons, Princeton Reflections will fascinate anyone who loves and cares about the University.
