A basic attitude of the author is that most of the ideas of modern probability theory can be well described and understood by coin-tossing sequences and the Wiener process. This elementary approach gives the reader a chance to become familiar with many of the fundamental concepts and results of the theory, especially in limit theorems, without the headache of paying too much attention to technical difficulties. This very approach can also be argued as an elementary introduction to many notions of statistical physics. A large part of the material covered here has not appeared in any other book so far. Vissza
