This book deals with modern organization theory as it applies to governments, business, labour unions, hospitals and schools. It is composed of 15 papers by 17 authors from 11 different nationalities who each belong to the leading authorities in their field and language area. What connects them is that they are all Europeans. Beyond that, there is a wide diversity of backgrounds and views, due to differences in academic disciplines (sociology, economics, psychology, law), and in political and ideological orientations. In spite of this, there are clear common trends in their thinking next to basic divergencies. The introduction to this book is written by Sami Kassem, Associate Professor of Management at the University of Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A.
