Love's dilemma, loneliness, crime, happy memories, a mythical creature and an uneventful shopping trip to an ordinary supermarket are only some of the ingredients of the ten short stories collected in this anthology. But what makes each of them 'a good story'? What features of the narrative text enhance the reader's involvement? How are the characters constructed and made credible? The tasks draw the learner's attention to these and other questions, so that reading literature becomes a process of interaction between the readers and the written text.
The activity-based approach helps the learner become aware of the issues involved in the analysis of short fiction and encourages personal response to the literary text.
