Cézanne is judged "one of the most marvelously reactionary painters of all time," while Turner is rated as "without the slightest hesitation, without a doubt, the worst painter in the world." These and many more acidic evaluations flow from Dali's pen in an unbroken stream of outrageous observations that are vicious and unfair, but also funny and thought-provoking. They are accompanied by renderings of 15 of the paintings mentioned in the text along with 44 of Dali's calligraphic devices. Dover (1996) republication of the work published by The Dial Press, New York, 1957 (French text deleted). 15 black-and-white illustrations. 44 calligraphic decorations. 96pp. 5% * S)L Paperbound.
