Almost seven decades have passed since the first Modern Olympic Games were held in Athens. Since then the Olympic idea has triumphed and each Olympics have be-come a social event which arouses the interest of hun-dreds of millions, and gives them joy, pride, happiness— and disappointment. Inspired by the example of Olympic heroes, countless young people all over the world have become active sportsmen themselves.
Under these circumstances it is obvious that a large library could be fiiled with the books written about the Modern Olympic Games. However, there have been no books so far viewing the events from the inside, from behind the scenes, and showing the Olympic Games of our times and their heroes through stirring stories. Sándor Barcs has undertaken to do just this in his volume "The Modern Olympics Story," taking the reader through every single moment of the most exciting contests.
