A PRAYER COMPANION TO IGNATIAN SPIRITUALITY (Taken from the Introduction)
In this PrayerCompanion, we take fifteen (15) Ignatian hallmarks and present each in the form of Prayer Themes. Each Prayer Theme is divided into five (5) parts. These parts are:
• Background (i.e., how this basic hallmark emerged in the actual
life-story of Ignatius of Loyola);
• Basic Meaning;
• The Grace I Desire and Seek;
• Scripture Readings; and
• Prayer Exercises.
Regarding the manner these Prayer Themes are presented here, we need not follow any particular sequence when using them. We just take and pray over that Prayer Theme which we feel can enhance our present interior life and relationship with God. Following this approach, we can see that our Prayer Companion is not like any normál book which we can read through from beginning to end. To be sure, this Prayer Companion is best utilized when it is prayed and made.

Ramon Maria Luza Bautista, SJ has a PhD in Spirituality from Heythrop College, University of London. A major part of his ministry is giving both preached retreats and individually guided retreats. He has been in formation work for lay people, men and women religious and candidates to the secular clergy.
