There can be no real conflict between the findings of pure science and of good, informed theology — both are part of humanity's search for truth and understanding.
In this book, Fr Sean P. Kealy CSSp outlines, briefly and clearly, the history of the relationship between science and the bible, looks at some of the major personalities in that history, from Galileo to Teilhard de Chardin, and then looks at a series of major areas of potential conflict: people and their universe, mystery, creation, evolution, miracles.
In conclusion, Fr Kealy suggests that, while there will inevitably continue to be tensions between two very different ways of knowing, future battles will not be as crude as those of the past. Furthermore, developing awareness in both science and theology, tend towards a future where "together, theologians and scientists can channel our insatiable inquisitiveness to serve the common good."
