CLIVE WALKER
Clive Walker was born in 1936 and studied art in Johannesburg and London.
His work has been exhibited in the USA and at the Sladmore Art Gallery, London, where he held a one-man show. He has had many one-man exhibitions in southern Africa and is a former Vice-Chairman of the SA Association of Arts (S. Transvaal).
Working as a game ranger in Botswana, he had ample opportunity to study wildlife. He has travelled extensively in the bush and conducted various expeditions into the wild regions of southern Africa and one expedition to India and Nepal.
Actively involved in wilderness and wildlife awareness and conservation, he has conducted trails for many years and, in 1975, founded Educational Wildlife Expeditions, specializing in adult game trails. In 1985 he founded and is Chairman of the Lapalala Wilderness School which promotes environmental education for children.

Married, with two sons, Clive Walker lives near Johannesburg and also has a house in the Waterberg Mountains where he is the warden of Lapalala Wilderness. He divides his time between painting, writing, and the many conservation projects with which he is associated. He is the founder of the Endangered Wildlife Trust, which sponsors research projects on rare and threatened wildlife and habitats. In addition to Signs of the Wild an6 numerous articles on conservation, he has written Twilight of the Giants and is co-author of Walk through the Wilderness and Predators of Southern Africa.
Clive Walker also holds the positions of honorary member of the Game Rangers' Association of Africa; Honorary President of the Wilderness Trust and trustee of the Polar Bear Trust; member of the lUCN Cat Specialist Group and corresponding member of the lUCN Commission on Education; and Vice-Chairman of the Rhino and Elephant Foundation.
In 1984 he was elected a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and in the same year received the Certificate of Commendation of the South African Defence Force in the field of conservation.
