The last few decades have seen major changes in agriculture. The increasing pace of technological and biological development and the emergence of new industrial production systems have made new methods of decision making and management necessary.
This book is an attempt to help micro and macro decision making, and to develop the methodology of management with simulation systems and by the use of computers in agriculture.
The book presents the general principles of the application of simulation systems and illustrates the possible uses of simulation modelling in different agricultural systems. The first chapter deals with the basic principles of modelling agricultural systems, and the second with the general methodology of simulation modelling. The subject of the third chapter is the simulation of production systems in agriculture.
The next chapters deal with the modelling of agricultural enterprises and of national and international agricultural systems. The Hungarian (HAM) and CMEA Agricultural Model and results obtained from them are also treated. Finally the author summarizes experience in the simulation of agricultural systems.
The book gives an overall view of simulation problems and suggests several of the methods discussed.
