About the author
After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1942 to 1945, John P.S. Mackenzie returned to Canada and to university. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill and a Doctor of Laws degree (honoris causa) from York University. His career as a banker, investment broker and financial consultant took him to Europe, the West Indies and back to Canada.
An active concern for the environment led him to serve as Chairman of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, and as a member of the executive committee of the Canadian Audubon Society. His interest in birds has resulted in travels all over the world in search of sightings.
His previous books include An Outdoorsman's Guide to the Birds of Eastern North America, Birds in Peril, Birds of Prey, Seabirds, Waterfowl and Game Birds Vissza
