Gathered in the pages of this book are 226 enterprising men and women whose individual efforts, from their locations in 60 countries around the world, remind us that the "Spirit of Enterprise" is an internationally human quality of exceptional value for all of us.
All were candidates for one of the highly valued Rolex Awards for Enterprise 1984.
Five of them were chosen as Laureates by a distinguished Selection Committee of international experts in a variety of fields. Each of these Rolex Laureates, brought to the Awards Ceremony held in Geneva as a guest of Montres Rolex S. A., received a cheque for Swiss Francs 50,000, a specially engraved gold Rolex Oyster Day-Date Chronometer, and a scroll attesting his or her Rolex Award.
Twenty-six more candidates, chosen as Honourable Mention winners, were given steel-and-gold Rolex Oyster Chronometers in local ceremonies around the world.
