BUGYI OCCUPATIONAL MYCOTIC DISEASES OF THE LUNG Pulmonary diseases caused by inhalation of dusts of vegetable or animal origin differ essentially from occupational damages induced by organic dust, and it is difficult or often even impossible to discriminate them from common diseases of the respiratory organs. This is the reason why labour hygiene, for many decades, was concerned mainly with silicosis and asbestosis while professional lung diseases escaped attention. Today, references in the literatrue agree that a number of occupational diseases described so far under various names are actually toxomycoses. Manifestations of this damage show world-wide incidence occurring in every profession connected with the handling of materials which afford a favourable soil for the growth of schizomycetes, and their rangé extends from completely mild forms to fatal cases.
