Chet Murphy is internationally known as a tennis teacher, having conducted clinics for teachers and players throughout the U.S., in Canada, Mexico, Australia, and the Far East. Tennis magazine calls him "one of the game's foremost teachers" and "one of the most thoughtful and most respected members of the tennis-teaching community."
Former Varsity coach at the University of California (Berkeley), he is now a tenured faculty member there, coordinating tennis instruction in the physical education department. During his ten years as coach at California, his teams were regularly among the strongest, finishing third twice in NCAA play.
As a player. Murphy was twice ranked in the first-ten in national men's doubles. While a student at the University of Chicago he was runner-up for the NCAA title in both singles and doubles, and was Big Ten champion in both events.
Long-time summer professional at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, he is an honorary member of the United States... Tovább

In 1972 he was honored with the USTA Educational Service Award in recognition of his work in clinics and workshops and for his committee work and publications.
He has authored numerous articles and five books on tennis, and is generally regarded as one of the progressive teachers in the game.
