The Pike Anglers' Club of Great Britain, now one of the most influential clubs in the angling world, both politically and piscatorially, had its beginnings in the re-invigoration of pike angling that took place under the guidance of Bill Chillingworth, Barrie Rickards and Hugh Reynolds in the late 1970s. They launched the new look of what was then the Pike Society with the magazine Pikelines as its flagship.
That magazine, printed on cyclo-styled sheets by volunteer labour, produced a remarkable run of articles on all aspects of pike fishing, some by experts, others by unknowns who have now become household names in angling circles. The early issues of what is now the regular illustrated periodical in the field have become collectors' items, a repository of the wisdom of a number of respected anglers who are also gifted tellers of a good fishing story.
