Karol ESTREICHER jr., professor at the Jagiellonian University, art histórián and man of letters, scion of íamous Estreicher family which has been associated with Cracow's university for almost two hundred years, is a worthy successor to the tamily tradition. He has led an active and colourful life. Besides his speciálist publications he has written novels and short stories. During the war, he drew up claims, in England and America íor Polish works of art looted by the Nazi occupation forces. After the war he retrieved from Germany the most splendid products of Polish culture, including the altar taken from the Church of Our Lady in Cracow.
