COUNTRY LIFE
PICTURE BOOK OF SCOTLAND
The theme of this volume in the famous Country Life series of Picture Books is the Scottish countryside in all its variety: its rolling hills and windswept moors, its Lowland farms and lonely Highland crofts, its wild and romantic western seaboard and the small, old fishing villages and burghs of the east coast, its ancient castles, its superb lochs, tumbling rivers and mountains, and the savage grandeur of the rocks and landscape of the extreme north-west.

Yet it has been the publishers' object, within the limitations imposed by space, to make the collection as representative as possible of the country the visitor will see as he travels northwards from the Border.
But the book is not only or even principally for the visitor. Far more must 'travel hopefully' in the imagination than are fortunate enough to have the means or the opportunity to arrive at the halts on such a journey as is here illustrated. For them especially this pictorial record of some of Scotland's many beauties has been gathered together.
