R. N. Berki is Professor of European Political and Social Theory and Director of the Institute of European Studies at the University of Hull. He has co-edited The Morality of Politics (1972) and Knowledge and Belief in Politics: the Problem of Ideology (1973), and is author of Socialism (Dent, 1975), On Political Realism (Dent, 1981) and Insight and Vision: the Problem of Communism in Marx's Thought {Denl 1983).
