The Hoiind of the Baskervilles is Holmes' most famous adventure. The idea of the novel came to Doyle during a visit to the gloomy moor at Devonshire. The rocky wastes, threatening bogs, and the unearthly atmosphere heighten the adventure of a family living under the ancient curse of a spectral hound.
