ERIC CLAPTON is today probably the greatest living blues guitarist and the most enigmatic. The product of a broken home in wartime Britain, Eric was raised by his grandmother, Rose, who encouraged his early love of music. Never content to rest on his laurels, Clapton has continued to develop his talent, working with The Beatles, Delaney and Bonnie, Pete Townshend, Sting, and many other top performers. A string of broken love affairs, years of dependency on drugs and alcohol and the tragic death of his son, Conor, have caused Eric Clapton truly to live the blues. Reflecting the pain of his life in his emotionally charged music, Clapton has consistently and unselfishly given everything to his audience, endearing him to millions around the globe.
The Elustrated Eric Clapton brings out the myth and the magic of a great musician, revealing his amazing life in words and pictures. Geoffrey Giuliano has assembled a rare collection of images and unique anecdotes which introduce the reader to an Eric Clapton we have not seen before. Closely observed and intensely personal.
