Mr. Barnett Hollander, of the New York Bar, author of Confiscation, Aggression and Foreign Funds Control in American Law, has established for himself over many years an international reputation in this specialised field of law. In this present treatise he surveys the historical aspects of the problem, the case law on which much present practice is based, and the various attempts which have been and are being made to secure international agreement for the future. Beginning with an account of art and cultural property in the law of nations generally, he examines the position of art and artists' rights, international legislation, the field of copyright in works of art, and particular problems relating to auction sales and warranties, gifts to museums, fakes, forgeries and frauds, in a textbook which is fully documented with references to sources and case histories. As far as the publishers are aware, this is the first serious essay at a comprehensive treatise to appear, and as such it is not only essential to lawyers concerned in this field, but alsó of considerable importance to all whose Professional or other interests lie in this direction.
