The cover shows a still from the film, which stars Richárd Burton, Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, and Sue Lyon. Tennessee Williams is perhaps the greatest living American playwright. His plays A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof were both awarded the Pulitzer Prize, and later made into very successfui films. The Night of the Iguana ís set in a Mexican hotel in the summer of 1940. Chance brings together an intriguing assortment of life's victims: Shannon, a renegade clergyman unable to face up to reality; Maxine, the lusty but likeabie owner of the hotel; Nonno, the old poet desperately struggling to flnish his last poem; Hannah, the poet's unmarried granddaughter who has never found love; and a family of insensitive, beer-drinking Nazis.
